Where price stands
Four numbers that frame today before any story does.
Spot gold trades at 4,129.87, up +70.23 or +1.73% from the 4,059.64 New York close. The session has traded 4,057.89 to 4,135.14. At 4,129.87 the metal sits in the top 7% of its own daily range, only 5.27 below the high. That is not a market that spiked and gave it back; it is a market that kept what it bought.
The daily bar tells the same story in one line: open 4,060.63, low 4,060.63, close 4,129.87. The low equals the open, so price never traded below the first print of the day. One direction, no reversal attempt.
It is not a gold story alone. Silver is 53.14 (+1.77%), platinum 1,515.32 (+1.34%), palladium 1,021.57 (+1.55%) and sitting at the very top of its range. Brent is 92.78 (-1.19%). Precious metals bid, crude offered — that combination matters, and section three explains why.
BÖLÜM 02
How the session traded
Asia carried almost the entire move; New York only opened the door.
The move did not start in New York. It started in the European morning, when price sagged to 4,031.79 at 11-04 15:23 UTC — the low of the entire window and the only moment sellers had control.
“New York contributed +17.48.”
5-minute closes from 11-04 11:09 UTC to 11-05 02:03 UTC. Dashed line is the 4,059.64 prior close.
The US session then did its job without finishing it: a push from 4,047.57 to a high near 4,069.39, then a fade back to 4,065.05 by the 22:00 UTC hour. New York contributed +17.48. The breakout was real; the follow-through was not.
Asia is where it became a trend. From 11-05 00:03 UTC price ran 4,062.49 → 4,129.87, a gain of +67.38, or roughly 96% of the day's total advance. The Shanghai Gold T+D opened its Thursday morning up 2.9% at 877.52 yuan a gram, which is the same bid seen from a different time zone.
The time distribution is the evidence. If this were a US event trade, the gain would cluster around the New York open and fade into Asia. It did the opposite. Whoever was buying did it in Asian hours, with size, into a market that had already cleared resistance the night before.
BÖLÜM 03
The causal chain
Start from the identity, then weight every link with evidence.
Gold does not trade on headlines. It trades on the net of five things, and any honest daily note has to rank them rather than list them. The identity I use: price ≈ f(real yield, dollar, uncertainty premium, physical and ETF demand, inflation expectations). Each link below gets a number and a price response. Where a link has no evidence today, I say so instead of inventing one.
“Link 1 — real yield (the heaviest).”
Link 1 — real yield (the heaviest). Jin10 reported the dollar index and Treasury yields falling together after the US midterm result. Lower nominal yield with inflation expectations steady means a lower real yield, which lowers the cost of holding a non-yielding asset. This is the cleanest causal path in today's tape, and it is the one I would defend if only one link survived.
Link 2 — the dollar. The dollar index closed at 101.566, down 0.30%. It is not a single-pair artifact: EUR/USD is 1.12543 (+0.25%), GBP/USD 1.34872 (+0.13%) and USD/JPY 158.084 (-0.21%). A weaker dollar makes gold cheaper for every buyer whose currency is not the dollar, and the demand shift shows up almost immediately in Asian hours.
Link 3 — the uncertainty premium (the one that cuts both ways). Democrats taking the Senate constrains further fiscal expansion, which is supportive for Treasuries and pushes yields down — gold positive. But it also makes it harder for the White House to reshape the Fed, which raises policy predictability — gold negative at the margin. Today the yield channel won. That is a weighting judgment, not a slogan, and it can flip tomorrow.
Link 4 — physical and ETF demand. SPDR Gold Trust holdings rose 2.851 tonnes to 1,040.513 tonnes, and the World Gold Council raised its full-year central-bank buying estimate. This link is slow, but it is the reason a 3,872 low held instead of becoming a 3,700 low. It supplies the floor, not the move.
Link 5 — inflation expectations (today's headwind). Brent at 92.78 (-1.19%) lowers the inflation premium. With nominal yields also falling, the net effect on real yield is ambiguous, and today the market treated it as second-order. I flag it because if oil keeps sliding while yields stop falling, this link flips from neutral to negative.
The ranking. Real yield and dollar (both gold-positive today) outweigh physical demand (positive but slow) and inflation expectations (mildly negative). The jobs data sits outside this ranking: ADP came in at 86k versus 69k expected, and CME December hike odds moved back up to 81.5%. On the textbook map that is gold-negative. Gold rose +1.73% anyway.
That is the falsification test, and it is the most useful line in this report: if the market were pricing a hawkish labour print, gold would have fallen. It did not, so the binding constraint right now is the yield-and-dollar channel, not the Fed path. Anyone who tells you today's move was about strong jobs has the sign backwards.

What the candles say
Six daily bars, one clean V, and a Fibonacci level that just flipped.
Read the daily sequence in order. Oct 29 a small up bar at 4,021.21. Oct 30 a liquidation candle: open 4,022.16, close 3,876.89, a body of −145.27, with a low at 3,872.24 and a long lower wick. Nov 2 a rebound bar to 3,946.00 (+51.97). Nov 3 an inside day, −13.34, closing 3,930.47. Nov 4 a wide-range expansion: +127.70 to 4,059.80, reclaiming everything Nov 3 lost and closing above Oct 30's open of 4,022.16. Nov 5 continuation: +69.24 to 4,129.87, above Nov 4's high of 4,069.92.
“The structure is a V, and today is its third day.”
The structure is a V, and today is its third day. 3,872.24 is the pivot low. Three of the four bars since have closed higher, and the one that closed lower did so by 13 points on a narrower range. That is accumulation behaviour, not distribution.
Fibonacci. Measured from the 3,872.24 low to the 4,069.92 Nov 4 high, the range is 197.68. Retracements sit at 3,994.41 (0.382), 3,971.08 (0.5) and 3,947.75 (0.618). Extensions sit at 4,123.69 (1.272), 4,192.09 (1.618) and 4,267.60 (2.0). Today's close of 4,129.87 is +6.18 through the 1.272 extension. That is the first objective confirmation of the reversal — but it is a close of roughly 6 dollars above it, not a breakout with room behind it.

Trend versus stretch. The six-bar mean is 3,994.04, and price is +3.40% above it. Average daily range over the same six bars is 91.68; today's range is 77.25, below the average. Wide deviation plus contracting range means the trend is orderly rather than a squeeze — healthy, and also the condition in which a two-day pause usually appears.
What I am not giving you. The sample is six daily bars. MA20, MA50, RSI(14) and MACD all need materially longer series, so this edition publishes no values for them. Printing an RSI off six bars would be fabrication, and a fabricated indicator is worse than no indicator. The fix is data, not prose: backfill 60–120 daily bars and switch those indicators on in the next edition.

What is priced next
Two central-bank decisions and one labour print own the next 48 hours.
The calendar matters here because every item feeds one of the five links in section three. A BoE hike hits link 2. Claims hit the Fed path that today's tape refused to trade. Euro-area PPI hits the inflation leg. Read them as inputs to the chain, not as a list of events to react to.

| Çift | Kapanış | Değişim | Ç4 görünümü |
|---|---|---|---|
| EUR/USD | 1.12543 | ▲ +0.25% | Dollar softness is broad, not pair-specific — supports gold's link 2. |
| GBP/USD | 1.34872 | ▲ +0.13% | BoE at 20:00 is the swing factor; a hike extends the bid. |
| USD/JPY | 158.084 | ▼ -0.21% | Yen firming confirms the dollar leg is real, not a euro-only move. |
| DXY | 101.566 | ▼ -0.30% | Post-election slide; the single cleanest cross-asset confirmation today. |
- 120:00 Beijing — Bank of England decisionPrevious 3.75%, consensus 4.00%. A hike strengthens sterling and drags the dollar cross lower, which is gold-positive through link 2. A hold does the reverse. This is the highest-variance event of the Asian-to-European handover.
- 221:30 Beijing — US initial claimsPrevious 194k, consensus 196k. Claims above consensus would soften the December hike case that ADP just hardened, and would validate today's move rather than contradict it.
- 318:00 Beijing — Euro area September PPIPrevious 1.9%, consensus 2.5%. A hot print keeps the ECB hawkish, supports the euro and weakens the dollar — same direction as today's driver.
- 4Friday — US non-farm payrollsThis is the week's real pricing event. ADP at 86k has already raised the bar; a strong NFP pushes December hike odds above 81.5% and tests whether the yield channel can keep outweighing the Fed channel.
- 5US fiscal follow-throughWith Senate control settled, watch the next funding and issuance headlines. If fiscal expansion is genuinely constrained, Treasury supply falls and yields stay lower — supportive for gold through link 1.
- 6Oil, againBrent below 93 removes inflation premium. If crude keeps falling while yields stabilise, link 5 turns from a second-order headwind into an active negative. This is the quiet risk to today's thesis.

Three ways forward
Conditions, not forecasts. Each path has a trigger and an end point.
Base case (55%) — consolidate above the reclaimed level. Price holds the 4,123–4,135 band, retraces toward 4,069.92 without closing below it, then makes a second attempt at 4,192.09. The tell is range contraction on the pullback: a shallow, quiet retrace is the healthy version; a wide-range close under 4,069.92 is not.
“Bull extension (25%) — break and hold 4,135.”
Bull extension (25%) — break and hold 4,135. A close above 4,135.14 with the Asian bid intact opens 4,267.60, the 2.0 extension. This path needs a catalyst from the BoE or claims; it will not happen on momentum alone after two consecutive large-range bars.
Bear invalidation (20%) — lose 4,069.92. A close back below the Nov 4 high puts the 1.272 confirmation in doubt and opens 4,023.27 (0.236 retracement) and then the 4,000 round number. Below 3,971.08 the V structure itself is broken and the Oct 30 low comes back into play.

None of these are predictions. They are conditional maps: each has a trigger you can observe in a closing price, and each has a level where the thesis is wrong. That is the only form of forward-looking statement this desk publishes.

Sources and method
What was measured, what was cross-checked, and what was left out.
Price. Spot gold and the cross-asset panel come from Jin10 quotes, snapshot 2026-11-05T02:03:00.000Z (02:03 UTC, 02:03 Beijing). The five-minute path uses the same feed, 165 closes. Daily bars come from the site's own bar store.
“What was excluded.”
Cross-checks. Three were used. Precious metals versus crude separates an interest-rate trade from an inflation trade. The dollar index versus EUR/USD, GBP/USD and USD/JPY separates a broad dollar move from a single-pair artifact. The intraday time distribution separates a US event trade from an Asian flow trade. All three agreed today.
What was excluded. No MA20/50, RSI or MACD values, because six daily bars cannot support them. No point forecasts of our own. No trade recommendations. Third-party targets are labelled as third-party and are not endorsements.
Standing caveat. This is an Asia-session snapshot. The US session is still ahead and can invalidate the path described in section two and the base case in section six. Prices are a point-in-time record, not a live quote. Nothing here is investment advice.
