IMF总裁格奥尔基耶娃:AI既是全球增长希望也是通胀与债务风险
Why AI is both the hope and the hazard for world leaders, according to IMF chief Georgieva
IMF President Georgieva said that while artificial intelligence has become a key driver of the relative economic strength of various countries, it also threatens growth through energy costs, public debt and financial stability channels. She pointed out that AI hardware and related technology products account for more than one-tenth of the world's goods trade. If AI is done well, it can add up to 0.5 percentage points to global annual growth. However, global public debt is close to post-World War II highs and will soon exceed 100% of GDP. The AI construction wave itself has an inflationary effect. If corporate profits fall short of expectations, the concentration of U.S. stock holdings may amplify disappointment into a broad impact.
The president of the IMF characterized the wave of AI construction as a variable that coexists with growth momentum, inflation, and debt risks. For the gold market, attention needs to be paid to the potential impact of inflationary stickiness brought about by energy cost channels and public debt approaching post-war highs on real interest rates and risk aversion. Foreign exchange traders should be wary of financial stability disruptions that may be caused by changes in AI-related trade shares and concentration of U.S. stock holdings, and pay attention to the transmission of risk appetite fluctuations to major currencies.
