$$XAUUSD Above 4290 on the short-term frame. Next targets: 4360 -> 4387 -> 4401. Two scenarios: 1) Direct breakout -> no clean entry, sit tight. 2) Pullback after 15m consolidation -> entry near 4310 -> then continuation. Don't chase. Let the setup come to you.

Sunday night prep done. Weekly levels marked. Alerts set. I don't know where gold opens Monday. But I know exactly what I'll do if it opens at each of these 5 levels. I don't predict. I prepare.

Did nothing until 5pm today. Read a book. Made lunch. Stared at the wall. One trade during NY open. Hit TP. Closed the laptop. Most people think trading is constant action. The best traders I know spend 95% of their time doing nothing very patiently.

Found an old trading journal from 2015 today. 47 pages of "I should have..." and "Next time I will..." and "This time it's different" (it wasn't). Kept it on my shelf. Now my entries are 3 lines: what I saw, what I did, what I learned. Simpler is better at everything.

Took the MTB up Bukit Timah this morning. Legs are screaming. Brain is quiet. Best risk management tool I've found isn't a stop loss — it's exhaustion. Hard to overtrade when your quads are on fire.

New espresso machine arrived this morning. My therapist said I need "rituals outside the charts." Now I have a 00 coffee ritual instead of a 00 revenge trade ritual. Not sure which is more expensive but at least the espresso doesn't wake me up at 3am to check Asia session.

Took a small hit on gold today. Stopped out at 2362, watched it reverse 20 pips after. Classic. Three years ago I would have revenge traded it. Today I closed the chart and went for a hike up Bukit Timah. Cost me 12 pips and a few hours of sunshine. Best trade I didn't take.

NFP week approaching. Here's what I'm watching: - Gold has been compressing into a tighter range each day this week - Volatility typically explodes 6-12 hours before the NFP release — not during - Open interest is shifting from short to neutral positions My plan: reduce position size by Wednesday, take everything flat by Thursday NY close. Let the noise pass, then trade the reaction, not the event. Sometimes the best trade is no trade.

I wasted my first year watching the 1-minute chart. Thought I was a genius every time I caught a 5-pip move. Didn't realize I was just burning spreads and accumulating losses. Three things I wish someone told me in 2015: 1. The 1-minute chart is a slot machine. It shows you signals everywhere so you trade nowhere. Start with 4H and daily. One chart, one pair, one decision. 2. The price doesn't move because of your trendline. It moves because of what 50,000 people in London and NY are doing right now. Learn the sessions. The patterns follow. 3. Your first 10 losses will teach you more than your first 100 wins. That tuition is mandatory. Don't skip it. Gold is simple. We make it complicated because simple doesn't feel like work.

The hardest thing in gold trading isn't the analysis. It's the 15 minutes after you enter a trade. Price pulls back 3 dollars. Your brain screams "you were wrong." You move your stop closer. Price hits it — then runs 20 dollars without you. I've done this more times than I can count. The fix wasn't a better strategy. It was learning to sit on my hands for the first hour after entry. Give the trade room to breathe. If your analysis is sound, the market will come to you.

I get asked a lot: "what's the one indicator I should use?" Truth is, I deleted all of them years ago. Not because indicators are useless — because they became a crutch. I was staring at 12 charts looking for confirmation instead of looking at price. Price action + structure + volume. That's it. Everything else is decoration. The moment I stopped adding indicators and started removing them, my P&L flipped.
